Connecting Communities

The Problem.

My group was challenged with tackling a social issue within Baltimore and using the design thinking process to find a solution. We tested our skills during this expedited project on the issue of vacant lots, a problem that plagues the city of Baltimore.

The Process.

Using the Discover, Ideate, Prototype design thinking framework, we conducted extensive user interviews, mapped our stakeholders, brainstormed numerous solutions, and devised a final prototype.

The Solution.

Our final prototype would provide neighborhoods with three customizable options for a community space to fill the vacant lot. The three options (Socialize, Play, and Exercise) can be rearranged to fit the unique dimensions of each lot. Additionally, the sets can be dismantled and moved to another community if a more permanent solution for the lot is devised.
